of Southern California

In 2019 the Indian Medical Association of Southern California celebrated it’s 40th anniversary. As a pioneer tax exempt organization for physician of Indian origin located in Orange County, Southern California, it also draws physician membership from Los Angeles , Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Members of the association include renowned academic leaders particularly in liaison with the University of California, Irvine, Orange County Medical Association and California Medical Association. The association is a member of the Network of Ethnic Physician Organization (a project of California Medical Association Foundation) and the Southern California chapter of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, a national organization representing over 50,000 physicians of Indian origin in this country. The association holds monthly medical education dinner meetings and annual education seminars. The association community outreach programs include medical screening,educational health fairs, physician volunteering at local health clinics, education and support services for senior citizens and support to organizations such as Pratham USA (a children’s literacy program in India), Ekal Foundation USA ( a skill development and health awareness program for tribal and rural communities in India), SAHARA Foundation (South Asian Helpline And Referral Agency) and disaster relief programs in India and other Third World countries. The association supports young physicians of Indian Origin and association membership for medical students and residents is free. The association has incorporated newer programs for physician wellness as well as social and cultural programs for retired members.
